Respect others and don’t SPAM with links.
Don’t always push information our to people, connect with others by responding to others.
If you come across helpful information, be willing to share it.
Be open to answering questions that you friends may ask.
Look at ways where you can automate or manage your social media efforts.

Create a list of skills or traits that you want your business partner to have.
Then you can use different social media networks to assess those you are considering such as LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter.
Don’t be afraid to use search engines to research your potential business partners.
Ask for recommendations that you can talk to about the potential business partner.

As you apply these simple things to finding your business partner then you are able to create a solid foundation for your partnership. Using social media to connect with others is important especially if you are using it to grow your business. However, have you noticed that you efforts have stalled or that you are not connecting as much via social media?

If you are experiencing a hindrance in your social media efforts, maybe you need to make some changes. Below are a few things that can help you identify if your social media efforts are stalled:

Have you found that you are losing Twitter followers as quickly as you add them?
Are people not attending your teleseminars even though you heavily advertise them?
Have your mailing subscriber slowed down?
Have people on your mailing list stopped purchasing suggested products?

If you could answer “yes” to at least two of the questions above then you might need to make changes to the way you are using social media to grow your business. Some of the change may mean that you look into the way you advertise via social media website. Or you might have to rebrand your social media efforts. One of the best things you can do is hire someone who specialize in social media integration or implementation so that they can help you restart your social media efforts.

Are you connected to others via a social media website to grow your business? Have you been able to create a social media network of followers and friends? Then if you haven’t, you are missing out on the power of social media networking.

The power of social media networking is when you have created a network of people you can easily go to for the following:

Assistance with business problems
Find potential clients
Connect to business associates who can become joint ventures
Find support team members for you business

These are just a few of the ways that you can experience the power of social media networking. One example of how the power of social media not only affected my business but it also helped me grow my network of influence is…

I was introduced to an event organizers who needed additional panelist. The person who introduced me was someone I had met years ago via social media but had never met. I and the event organizer connected and she asked to be a panelist to discuss how to use social media for your business. Another interesting thing is that the other person who was on the panel with me was also introduced to the event organizer by the same person. I and the other panelist didn’t realize this until were had started our first session and were talking about the power of social media.

Now ask yourself, what opportunities are you missing because you haven’t started developing your social media network? You can easily get started by joining either Twitter or Facebook so that you can create a social media presence. One more thing, the event that I spoke at was “The Women’s Business Conference” which is an annual event held in Connecticut and organized by Victoria Hughes (@twbcct).

One of the things that is quickly becoming a necessity is the use of social media within a political campaign. As we saw with President Obama’s campaign, social media can make a very big difference.

Some of the reasons why social media should be included in the strategy plan for a political campaign are:

Help increase supporters.
Help increase donations.
Quickly connect with supporters.
Building political network for supporters and constituents.

These four simple steps can make a big different in a political campaign. Some of the things that you can do to integrate social media into your political campaign are:

Create a fan page on Facebook and ask your supporters to join it and let others know about it. This can help give you visibility within your political target market.
Possibly setup an ad campaign on Facebook to support our fanpage that will allow you to target who sees your ad. This can help you target your local supporters.
Create a Twitter account so that you can connect with your supporters there. You can also hold a Twitter fundraiser.

Regardless of the steps that you choose to make, integrating social media into your political campaign is one of the best things you can do to connect with your supporters.

Have you ever watched the show “Leverage” on TNT? It’s all about “leveraging” to where the good wins out over the bad. With social media, when you apply “leveraging” this means that you are looking for ways to get your name or business name in front of the masses in a good way. Well most people want it in a good way. ☺

Be transparent.
Be real.
Be honest.
Be sharable.
Be open.

As you implement some of these things in your social media efforts, keep in mind that you should monitor your efforts to see what’s working the best for you. BingTweets: Twitter on Bing Speed

Did you know that Bing has now created a new website that incorporates Bing search results along with Twitter feed associated with the same keyword? The name of this new website is BingTweets.com and it is an interesting concept.

Not only is Bing trying to capture the market share for search engines but now they are combining their efforts to incorporate Twitter results. I did a search for my name on BingTweets.com and below where the results for the timeframe when the search occured.

When you visit BingTweets.com, the first thing you see is a Welcome Message. Below is what it says:

BingTweets enables you to see deeper, real-time information about the hottest topics on Twitter by fusing Bing search results with the latest tweets. To get started, click on a trending topic, or search for anything that’s on your mind in the search box below.

To implement a search, all you have to do is input your search string or keyword in the box that’s located in the upper right corner. Then once the search starts, you will be given the opportunity to Tweet it or Share a link to the results. The results are real-time for Twitter and Bing and are very helpful.

Have you thought about using your social media efforts to find a freelance job? Is Your Social Media Out Of Control?

One of the things that I’ve noticed about social media is that some have gotten out of control with their use of social media. Yes it’s great to share what you doing but does everyone need to know that you are getting ready to go to the bathroom or take a shower? No, it’s not necessary.

I’m all for using social media to connect with others and to grow my network of friends. Building relationships via social media is another good option too. What I want to encourage you to do is remember that there is a real world out there and that you should connect to others offline too.

Case in point, I love networking online and connecting with others to grow my network. But I’ve come to realize that connecting in person is just as important to growing your network. People sometimes want to be in your presence and meet you beyond the Internet. Being able to connect with others offline has increased my social network locally and in other parts of the US.

I found the following video on MSNBC that shares how some have gone to the extreme when it comes to social media. Is there a happy medium? Can there be to much social media? What are your thoughts? Please feel free to share.
