Sony Puts PlayStation 3 on Sale

Currently, Sony can’t be happy that their PlayStation 3 has been outsold by both Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Nintendo’s Wii. On Tuesday, Sony made a move to address the situation. Starting right away, the price of a PlayStation 3 will be cut from $399 to $299.
This sale price for the PlayStation 3 will affect the current 80 gig model on the market. It will also be the price for the new, slimmer 120 gig model that is set to be released within the next month. The current 160 gig models will now be $399 instead of $499.

EA’s Revenue Falls, Outlook Brightens

Videogame maker Electronic Arts sunk deeper into loss in its fiscal first quarter thanks to falling revenue, a situation brought on by EA’s taking deferred revenue into account. However, EA has also managed to do better than Wall Street expectations would have had the company doing thanks to the popularity of its Sims 3 game and various Wii titles.

Gamers Reluctant to Spend

While the videogame industry had once been thought of as recession-proof, reports from Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo show that even the videogame industry has managed to spring a leak. The makers of every major videogame console have shown a drop in profit, as well as a reluctance to cut prices that, according to analysts, could end up harming these companies in the long run.
