We often laugh because we’re happy, and when we’re sad, laughing can make us feel happy and healthy. Laughter releases endorphins, neurotransmitters that have pain-relieving properties similar to morphine and are probably connected to euphoric feelings, appetite modulation, and the release of sex hormones. Studies have shown that laughter boosts the immune system in variety of ways.When you’re stressed out and worried about finding a job or keeping a job I would say laughter can be your friend. An article from Scientific American got my attention today, especially since I found myself sick several times last month. The article, entitled “The Danger of Stress”, revealed studies showing how long-term stress can be harmful to the body.
It might seem counterintuitive, but… stress makes our immune systems less effective because it actually elicits an immune response itself.
