You know, so many people are looking for a job. Filling out applications, sending resumes and cover letters and hoping to get a job. Over the last few weeks I have met with job seekers or spoken to job seekers who are frustrated with the difficulty they are experiencing with trying to find employment.

Job Fairs Can Lead To Job Opportunities

Job Fairs can lead to great job opportunities if you are ready for the opportunities when they show up. Today, I had the privilege to meet some wonderful people at a National Career Fair in Timonium, MD. For three hours I shook hands, reviewed resumes, coached and connected with job seekers. For me as a coach and blogger it was fun. I enjoy meeting people and sharing valuable information that will make the difference between whether someone will get a job in the next 30 to 90 days.

Without a doubt, the biggest interest freelance writers have is how to get a gig. Experienced writers are almost always looking for the next writing job while, obviously perhaps, new writers are longing for their first. Writing experience does matter; I’d be fooling you if I said anything else. It’s way easier for me to get a gig than the first time I went for one. Write-From-Home.com, a finalist in Writing White Papers 10 Top Blogs for Writers, has a short but important post about the best way to apply for a freelance writing gig.
To her tip about thinking like an employer, I’d add order your resume or credits so the most applicable is on top. It’s so easy to have several resumes, each tailored in a particular direction or specialty, it seems a shame not to do it.
