Nielsen is reporting some interesting ratings for last night’s vice presidential debate. The overall rating for the debate was 45.0 — much higher than Obama and McCain’s debate last week. That ranking means that 45 percent of households with Nielsen meters watched the debate. Only 31.6 percent of households watched the presidential debate. While not all numbers are in yet, Nielsen is reporting that Joe Biden and Sarah Palin’s debate may wind up being one of the most-watched debates ever.
While reactions to the debate are mixed, both of the vice-presidential candidates seemed to do well. Frankly, I expected worse from …read more

VP candidate Sarah Palin’s personal email account was hacked this week — selected screenshots, contact information and an index of her emails were sent to Wikileaks. On the surface, looking through these emails looks like a simple invasion of Palin’s privacy. There are family pictures, emails from friends and other material that I don’t think should be a matter of public interest.
But there is another issue that must be considered: federal authorities have already found that Palin used another personal email account to conduct state business. Using an unarchived email account to conduct government business is …read more
Do you know what the Bush doctrine is?

Setting aside all other issues, Palin’s obvious lack of familiarity with the Bush Doctrine is enough to make me sure that she isn’t ready to be vice president. Worse, if John McCain is elected, she’ll be only one step away from the presidency. Can the U.S. afford another president who’s approach to foreign …read more

McCain Announces VP Pick: Sarah Palin

Despite a comment yesterday from an anonymous staffer on the McCain campaign that Sarah Palin definitely wouldn’t be the VP pick, the campaign announced this morning that she is indeed the pick.
Palin is the current Governor of Alaska — she won the 2006 election on an ethics reform campaign and gained extensive attention for her efforts to publicize ethical violations in the Republican political machine.
With the choice of Palin, the McCain campaign gains a representative well known for her conservatism. Palin is supportive of teaching creationism in school, as well as pro-life. But there are some ongoing problems …read more

Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska, has been discussed as a potential vice presidential choice for McCain. But it looks like her name will be coming off the list.
Palin’s administration is facing a scandal: it seems that she and her family used her office to carry out a vendetta against Palin’s ex-brother-in-law. She tried to have the man fired — he’s a policeman, and the public safety commissioner refused to fire him. So, Palin fired the public safety commissioner.
