It’s Thursday and that means it’s open comment night right here at The Golden Pencil.
It’s simple, right around 6 o’clock in the evening – and that’s Pacific Time – I’ll post a post titled something like “Open Comments Starts Now.”
I might propose a topic or wait for someone to ask a question. It’s a great time to get questions answered or just to mutter. All you have to do is post a comment in the comment section and we’re off.
It’s fun, often informative and a productive way to spend an hour on a Thursday.

We’ll start at 6 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time.
It’s simple, just post a question or a comment in the comments box and we’ll end up with a dialog… sort of a slo-mo chat.

Yep, it’s open comment mic tonight, or is it open mic comment? Either way, the official announcement and simple instructions are here.
It’s dirt simple… join us at 6 p.m. Pacific Time and make a comment… which could be anything writing related, like how folks successfully apply for gigs or how to get past writers block or how to decide when to give up the day job or… you get the idea. Sigh. No sooner did I send out my newsletter for the Wednesday jobs with a reminder we’d be doing an open comment mic tomorrow evening I got word I will be traveling. Yep, I’m out of town overnight for a client and simply won’t be able to be around tomorrow afternoon and evening. And it won’t work for me on Friday evening either.
I don’t want to cancel since everyone seems to like it… our choices would seem to be:

It’s Open Mic Comment Time – or close enough.
The topic this evening you ask?
Making money as a writer / editor / translator / freelancer.
Unless, of course, you want to comment about something else, tell us how you do it, how you wish it were, ask questions, etc. etc. etc.
Only one rule, and that’s be nice.
