Notifying Writing Clients About A Move

ideabulb.jpgWhen you’re ghostwriting or doing some other kind of writing or editing for clients and you move, it’s important that you both keep in contact and assure them you’re not getting too distracted. Although I’d been wanting to move for ages, the opportunity to move to a community came up in a hurry - so did my decision to take advantage of it. The last 10 days has been a balancing act of paying attention to my client’s needs and getting ready to move.

It’s even more pronounced for me because although all my current clients live a long way a way, two prospective clients are coming into town next week on business and want to meet me. So I emailed everyone in question, letting the know I wasn’t moving far, but that my phone number as well as my address was changing, but email would stay the same. So far, everyone seems okay with that.

The trick, as always, is communication. You’ve simply got to let your clients know what’s up. Usually, when you do, they’re happy to work with you.

Warning - A Nothing To Do With Writing Post - 2

Ahhh, I’ve got a desk setup again… I don’t have a kitchen table, but I do have a small movable kitchen island. It has two stools and I thought I’d be able to eat at it, but the height of the stools is wrong so it became a place to put stuff… you know about those traps! I got it cleared off, am using the two stools in the kitchen as a replacement and moved the island into the living room.

Of course, I had to clear off and move to small tables that make up most of a window bench… but I’m set up now, which feels good. The computer, and the cat will be the last to leave I think. Looks like Saturday is the big moving day.

Now, maybe I can get some writing done!

Warning - A Nothing To Do With Writing Post

Arghhhh! I’m moving, which is a good thing, but I haven’t moved yet. Instead I’m surrounded by boxes, my bed and desk are gone (that’s a very good thing), I’m literally on my knees typing at the moment. I think I can see how to get a better computer setup for today and tomorrow, but it involves clearing off a kitchen island, moving two bench-tables out to the garage, moving the island thing… yes, it will work and I think I’ll get started.

Next post I’ll tell you about my easiest move ever.

This Writer’s Moving!

mztiz.jpgAfter four + years in a tiny studio, MzTiz and I are moving. We’ll miss the garden here, but we have not only our own wee garden to the small two bedroom we’re moving to, but, since we will be part of a community, will have big gardens as well.

I’m, of course, in a bit of a panic… you know, the whole sorting, packing and moving thing. On another level I know it will be fine and I can hardly wait to get there.

As I tell stories of my move here and maybe in other places, consider it a demo of how you can turn anything in life into at least a blog entry, if not a magazine article or part of a book.
