Closed for vacation. Are you considering taking vacation this year, and closing up shop for a week or more?
My husband and I headed out to our favorite breakfast place last weekend and found it closed for two weeks. I can certainly see benefits to closing up your business and taking off, from a personal standpoint. After all, everyone needs a break.

The Declaration of Independence

Later this morning I’ll listen to National Public Radio’s reading of the United States’ 20th reading of our Declaration of Independence. I’ll probably be moved to tears again, both in joy at what was created for us and in sadness at how we seem to be losing it with little complaint. I invite you to read and / or listen closely.

For the last 19 years, National Public Radio has read out loud The Declaration of Independence. I always get shivers hearing it.
This year, with our Constitution under attack from within, it seems even more important. For the second year, here is the print version. Read it out loud to yourself, to your family, with friends. Savor it. The Declaration of Independence surely demonstrates the power of words.
