LinkedIn Review

Throughout the month of September I took the time to explore LinkedIn, the online social networking tool for business professionals.
The reason I took the time to understand LinkedIn was because of Jason Alba’s new book, I’m On LinkedIn Now What? I had the privelege to read his pre-press soft copy. I was hooked before I was out of chapter one. If you haven’t already, I highly recommend that you buy the book!
As a career coach, I see the value of professional men and women creating a profile on LinkedIn. If you are in the market for a new job, LinkedIn …read more

LinkedIn Connections – Degrees

Part 6 Of My Series About LinkedIn
LinkedIn Degrees – First, Second or Third. What do these terms mean? Let me define them as I understand them.
First Degree LinkedIn Connections are people who you know. People that you have invited into your network and they have accepted your invitation.
Second Degree LinkedIn Connections are people that your network of people know. Your First Degree Connection is the link between you and the people they know.
Third Degree LinkedIn Connections are people that know the people your Second Degree Connections know.

LinkedIn Connections “Now What?” P.2

Part 5 Of My Series About LinkedIn
I would like to hear from you! What has your experience been on LinkedIn? Here is an opportunity to share your personal story. Have you made a NEW connection or re-connected with someone since you have been on LinkedIn?
Here is an example of what I am looking for:

LinkedIn Connections – “Now What?”

Part 4 Of My Series About LinkedIn
LinkedIn Connections are people and people are connected to other people. The connections you make on LinkedIn are very quick, quicker than if you were standing in a room full of people with every good intention to meet them.
LinkedIn Connections are exponential. Why you may ask? Because my 31 connections have mushroomed or expanded exponentially because of the people that are connected to them.
LinkedIn Connections can be deceiving if you believe that you are truly connected to all of those people. What do I mean by this statement? My LinkedIn Connections begin with …read more

Do You Play To Win?

I was out visiting some of my favorite blogs last night and found a great post over at JibberJobber. Jason Alba wrote a post called Complacency is for the Dogs. In the post Jason mentions a quote from Tiger Woods this past weekend PG Championship.
“I came here to win. I didn’t come to hit a few balls, or to walk around on a nice day, or to drop a few pounds. I came here to win.”
What a powerful statement! Playing to win is all in the mind. What are you thinking about when you walk into an …read more

Radio Interview With Jason Alba

Good Morning to all of you!! I want to say that I had a PHENOMENAL interview with Jason Alba on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, because of technical difficulties the interview was not taped, nor were you able to hear the show on air!!
Here are a few highlights from the interview:
1. The genesis of JibberJobber came as a result of Jason finding himself in the job market, and unable to find a job. He had an epiphany while opening his laptop to record information on his job search in an excel spreadsheet. JibberJobber was birthed out of his own need to manage …read more
