The official word on iPhone pricing in Canada

The day after I wrote my last iPhone post, I received an email from the PR company working with Rogers Mobile (MS&L Digital) on the pricing plans:

Still not getting an iPhone and Rogers’ iPhone plans aren’t helping

When I was in Vancouver this week I was having lunch with Rebecca “Miss604” Bollwitt and Colleen Coplick and saw an iPhone ad in the Rogers store across the street. Yep, the marketing push is in full swing. Only problem is that until today we didn’t know what the plans would be like.
Now we do and all I can say is: ouch.

Rogers’ "unlimited data plan" is a consumer nightmare in the making

Sorry Canada, no iPhone for youApple’s “Jesus phone” (aka iPhone) still isn’t really available in Canada yet. Sure you can buy a hacked phone that is unlocked, but that is a risk that I’m not willing to take. One of the big stumbling blocks, we surmise, is that Rogers Canada (the only GSM provider) doesn’t offer an unlimited data plan.
