Help! I Don’t Know What Day It Is…

Unless you have a form of dementia or other mental disease, it shouldn’t be hard to keep track of the day, right? At least, if you don’t know the exact date, you should be able to get close and be able to tell others the day of the week. Right? RIGHT?
Thank god I carry my calendar/schedule with me just about everywhere. The other day I nearly drank milk that was over a week outdated, because I really thought that it was still good. I also regularly miss garbage and recycling days because I forget the day of the week. I …read more

Just a little fun today, because it’s Friday and I just got my hair done. There’s just something about a haircut and color that makes the day a little brighter!
You know your freelance writing project sucks when…
…you wake up around 3 PM, realizing that you feel asleep a few hours ago mid-sentence. I’ve actually done this. I woke up with and three pages of jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj. I cracked myself up.
…you’re distracted by a funny YouTube video. Before you finish the first sentence. Yeah, guilty with this one too.
…the client emails you to check in, and then checks back an hour …read more

Can’t find a paperclip? You’re in good company. Or at least lots of it. The voice in this video is not so good, but the concept cracked me up.

Writers Write, but Fingers don’t Fing

I got this in my inbox today, and while I normally frown upon mass emails and forwards, this one made me chuckle. If anyone knows the original source, please let me know!
English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren’t invented in England or French fries …read more
The World’s First Stand Up Economist

I had some amusing economics professors in school, but their humor usually wasn’t intentional. This guy has to be the world’s first stand-up economist. If you don’t get his jokes, don’t worry. It just means you’re not an econ nerd. Not that there’s anything wrong with that….
This video was filmed at the first ever humor session of the meeting of the American Economics Association earlier this year.

Fed Humor: Columbia Dean Watched Bernake

In this hilarious video, Columbia Business School Dean R. Glenn Hubbard vies for the top Federal Reserve Bank job that went to Ben Bernake. I’m calling for a revival of this 2006 classic. The acting is great, but I have to say – if this guy’s really the one singing, he’s got a whole other talent to exploit. Maybe he ought to call Sting!

Spinal Tap and Amex: Gimme Some Money

If you’ve seen Spinal Tap, you’ll appreciate the humor of this [not humorous] American Express commercial. In this commercial for small business financing, Amex uses “Gimme Some Money” from the 1984 Christopher Guest mockumentary, This is Spinal Tap. But the song was created for the parody film about a make believe rock band. It’s about a guy asking his girlfriend for money.
It makes me wonder if there’s not some guy in the back cube of an advertising company doing the big *wink*. Or was it intentional?
If you haven’t seen Spinal Tap, I’ve included the original clip here after the commercial.
And the original…

Funny Money: Tim Clue on Consumer Debt

We’re all in debt – consumers, corporations, and countries alike. In this funny video, Tim Clue’s talking about consumer debt, but it makes you wonder if this isn’t exactly how the Big Money Boys were approaching things as well. So when the Visa bill and the collectors get you down, fire this up for a few laughs.
