Do You Dare Lie?

Do you dare lie on your resume, or in your interview? I am amazed at how easy it is for people to lie about their credentials, about their work or life experience and then when caught, they either attempt to perpetuate the lie or they get angry for the exposure. I am publishing this post I wrote back in July 2007. With some additional information added. As a coach, I am asking you not to lie. Don’t lie on your resume, don’t lie on applications. Don’t lie in an interview. Don’t lie about anything. It will not serve you in …read more

What Do You Write On The Application… If You Were Fired?

Here is a question asked by Drew Williams, one of my readers here at Interview Chatter:
The problem I’m having is that question is asked on the application, usually an online one, and you are screened out automatically. Do I answer “no” so I can get an interview and then explain everything then? I will have already been dishonest but I have to answer question or I won’t be able to finish application?

4. Be able to tell the hiring manager how well you have done your jobs, …read more

There is always someone who is looking for a job and they know me, my passion for helping people find and get the jobs they want. I had one of those conversations this evening. I was on my way out the door and one of my friends said, “hey, I need to talk to you.” And I knew, it was a job question or issue or something about an interview.
The Situation:
He is a salesperson …read more

How Come I Keep Getting Turned Down?

Here is a question I recently responded to from Yahoo Answers! I share this question because I want to remind each of you to remember two things from this question. The first thing, is grooming matters in the hiring process. I recommend to those I coach, to look at the organization. Look at the people who work there. How do they dress? Whatever is acceptable grooming will be defined by the leaders and employees in the organization. If you are having some difficulty getting into a particular organization, check out your personal presentation.
The Question:
I keep getting turned down for a …read more
