Freelance writing is a great job, but it isn’t a very active job, unfortunately. My first year of freelancing, I gained weight. A lot of weight. An alarming amount of weight. My lifestyle in terms of diet and exercise didn’t change much during this time period.
What changed was that my job no longer required me to climb up and down two flights of stairs to make copies, walk a few blocks to the office, and be a go-fer around campus for my boss.

Contract Worker has a post called 6 Weeks to a Better, Stronger, More Energetic You. Rico is going back to doing push ups – a particular form of exercise I really have no interest in at all, but it did get me thinking about physical fitness.
First, I applaud Rico and anyone who is doing anything to improve their physical fitness. We are animals, after all, and we function best when we move a lot.
