With Earth Day in the recent past and Mother’s and Father’s Day approaching, we see an increase of holiday-oriented marketing. This type of marketing can be of value to customers, but only if you truly have a holiday tie-in. If you’re just trying to grab some of the holiday hype, your customers may decide that you’re following a trend rather than offering them a good deal.

Tomorrow, April 22, is Earth Day. In the spirit of the holiday, the Illinois Consumer Protection Agency offers some tips on “going green,” that is living ecologically, while being frugal.
1. Catch some rays. The State of Illinois and the Renewable Energy
Resources Program (RERP) are offering up to 30 percent rebates up to $10,000 on solar energy systems installed after January 1, 2008. Many other states are offering similar programs.
