Before we focus on the nine weeks of campaigning ahead of us, I’d like to take a minute for a quick convention recap. Ignoring the politics behind the words said and pictures shown, I think the Democrats pulled off one heck of a convention. Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama both gave memorable speeches and Barack Obama pretty much hit it out of the ball park. I feel like Joe Biden’s speech got a little lost in the middle there, but even so, it was well received.

Tonight is the final night of the 2008 Democratic Convention. The Convention moves from the Pepsi Center to INVESCO Field at Mile High (ie Mile High Stadium).
It’s the Dems marquee night, with politicos such as Bill Richardson (NM), Tim Kaine (VA), Al Gore and, of course, Barack Obama.
Other notable speakers include: Olympic Gymnast, Shawn Johnson, and Presidential Granddaughter, Susan Eisenhower, and children of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rev. Bernice King and Martin Luther King III.
They’re also bringing out the headlining musical acts: Jennifer Hudson, Sheryl Crow, will.i.am and Stevie Wonder.

Convention Moment – “Did you catch that?”

During a more procedural moment at the first evening of the Democratic Convention, the Rules Committee confirmed that all Florida and Michigan delegates would be reinstated with full voting rights.
After all the pain and fighting that went on last May/June with regard to the counting of the Michigan and Florida primary votes and delegate apportionment, this action is widely viewed as a “peace offering” to Florida and Michigan democrats, who could be very important voters in November.

It was an emotional evening in at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado last evening, as the Democrats “introduced” Barack Obama to the world and paid tribute to one of their greatest champions, Edward M. Kennedy.
