Gap Founder Dies at 81

Donald Fisher, the famed creator of the popular clothing retailer, The Gap, has died of cancer at age 81. Despite the fact that he was the creator of one of the most well-known clothing retailers in the world, Don Fisher was not known as a merchant or fashion designer, but rather as a talented business leader.

Freddie Mac CFO Found Dead

Freddie Mac’s acting CFO, David Kellermann, was found dead in his home this morning in what police are calling an apparent suicide. They responded to a 911 call around 5:00 this morning and found Kellermann in the Fairfax County home he shared with his wife and one daughter.
Kellermann was a University of Michigan graduate and attended George Washington University for business school. He worked for Freddie Mac for 16 years before being named CFO last September. Authorities say that Kellermann was not a target of the federal investigation, though friends say that he was under an extreme amount of pressure.

“The Death of Hardware”?

Forbes magazine recently wrote about “The Death of Hardware“. As in many Forbes articles I find a bit of sensationalism but it was interesting to ponder.
This one caught my attention due to my recent experience using Google applications to centralize control of basic spreadsheet information; the on-line applications allowed a project team to easily use spreadsheets together while talking on the phone on a simple project tracking assignment. The value of this type of central sharing is tremendous in that it eliminates sending files to each other and doing multiple updates and versioning of essentially the same document.
