“Boomerang” Generation and the Recession

Parents are starting to feel a greater pinch as more and more college graduates join the “boomerang” generation . The recession, along with the natural inflation that comes with tuition and rent, are squeezing college students and post-grads, sending them back home to mom and dad. An email I received from IBISWorld highlights this growing reality:
“We can expect to see a surge in the boomerang generation
[ages 18-24]

Airfares take to the skies

According to this article, the airlines are about to be hit – hard – by fuel prices and a host of other factors which have increased costs significantly. According to that report, fares may increase 30-40 percent before it’s all over.
What I don’t understand is why everybody is acting as though this is a surprise. Since I fly pretty much to the same place all the time, I’m pretty aware of airfares for that particular route.
