Children Books Recalled by the Feds

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, or the CPSC, has recalled 15,000 children books due to a strangulation hazard. The item in question is a cloth book imported by Sterling Publishing — a company located in New York.
The cloth book is called eebee’s “Have a Ball” Adventure and features a ball attached to a string. By becoming entangled in the attached basketball hoop, young children may be at the risk of strangulation. To date, no injuries or incidents have been reported.

It’s Time for Mattel’s Punishment

For the most part, lead-based products contaminating children’s toys seemed like a thing of the past until 2007, when Mattel Inc. was forced to recall millions of popular toys because of a violation of a federal law that bans lead paint. Because of their breach of the ban, Mattel has now been ordered by the Consumer Product Safety Commission to pay $2.3 million in civil penalties.

I kid you not. I’ve heard through the grapevine that Pooper Scooper Barbie and her accessories are a hot seller on eBay. Barbie comes with her dog, Tanner, dog biscuits, bowl, trash can, and a magnetic “scooper” to clean up after her pooch. At first glance, this toy looks pretty ridiculous, but maybe this is a way to teach kids that if they have a pet, there are responsibilities that come with it.
