Business Channel bloggers write about simplicity in a sped-up world
Jennifer Hofmann from My Organized Biz collects an extensive list of articles with the theme “Elegant simplicity in a sped-up world” written by b5 media Business Channel bloggers. Go over there now to read it. It’s a collection of 16 very useful articles for those who want to simplify their business life.
7 Sportsmanship Rules in the Workplace
Be polite to everyone you’re playing with, even those that you’re competing against. No trash talk. Although you don’t have to like everyone, treating them with respect will hopefully earn you respect. Also, this avoids any fights and negative tension.
Don’t show off. If you’re really good at what you do, people will automatically praise you and think highly of you. Showing off will make you sound insecure. Plus, people will imagine throwing heavy machinery your way.
Listen to your coaches – your supervisors and bosses. Follow their directions and listen to their advice. After …read more
Symptoms of productivity phobia
Spiders, rats, vampires, seeing your grandmother naked – these are all valid phobias. However, there’s also such a thing as fear of productivity. Yes, it’s entirely possible that you have it even if you’re reading a blog like this. If you want to get your own diagnosis, here is a list of 5 symptoms of productivity fear:
1. You’re afraid to read this article. True, it may be because you’re afraid of what grammatical horrors I might commit, but maybe you’re also afraid that you’ll have some or all of the symptoms listed. The …read more
Being that it’s August, let’s talk hardware and heat

Today is our channel theme day and while my fellow bloggers are working off the meaning of “august”, I’m taking a different tack. August is one of the hottest months of the summer in North America and so I thought it might be a good time to talk about heat, sun, and computers.
First, heat is not a computer’s best friend. One of its greatest foes, actually. So for starters, don’t leave/put computers, cameras, etc in direct sun for long. Not good. LCD screens can get damaged quickly and the heat can start doing real damage quickly. Of course cars are …read more

Ah Biz Channel Theme Day. It feels like it’s been, um, a month! Hee, hee of course it’s been a month! Regardless TaxGirl is hosting this month’s theme day on Work and Play and I can’t think of a better way to pimp you work than to have some fun.
Tech companies and IT departments are famous for Nerf rocket fights, after-hours Doom death matches (yes I’m dating myself) and other jokes to bring some fun into the day.

Today is the b5 Biz Channel theme day. Since it’s March, and St. Patrick’s Day was just on Saturday, the theme is luck.
I’m not really in the mood to write at the moment. In fact, this is probably the only post I’ll write today. Why? I have a doozy of a cold. My children shared their colds with me.
So yeah I feel like dreck and can’t focus. But because I work at home, I’ve been able to set up blog for a new client (took me longer than usual, since I had to triple check all my typing), read a …read more

Scot and I can write all we want about new tips and tools to help you to make your work better, but if you hate your job, if the passion is gone, well it’s just not going to help.
It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, it’s passion that makes the difference between doing your job and doing your job well. Take me for instance. I love blogging. Setting up blogs, writing, reading feeds (okay sometimes that’s a chore, like today since I haven’t caught up for two days), all of it. There are some days, however, when …read more

Yep it’s that time of year again. That gift buying season. I’m pretty much done with my shopping only a couple things left to get … oops that’s for my family. Crap. Maybe these great posts will inspire me … actually they already have. So let’s get to it …
Being the host I’ll go first … I’m a pretty esoteric, maybe eccentric, guy … I’m suggesting you go back to basics and give a Moleskinne notebook to capture your thoughts and ideas and a good pen to go with it.
Rico on Contract Worker has the sprit of the season with …read more

As you know I’m also a part of the SciHealth Channel with the Homely Scientist, and we do something every month that is pretty fun—theme days. One day a month all of us in the channel write a post on a topic. This month our theme was food (here is my post and the post to all the other food-related posts). Well I know a good idea when I see one, so we’re having theme days here on the Biz Channel too! Today is our first theme day and it is also seasonal—holiday gifts. Regardless of all the relevant factors, …read more
