Friends of the Five Day Weekend

Via 2million I ran into this campaign for a 5 day weekend. Two good days of work and five days off. I think this is a cause I can believe in!

Looks like most of their rallies (The Work Less Express) are taking place on the east coast because the movement started in Asheville, NC. I’ve gotta believe they’d find some pretty good traction out here on the west coast too, though. If you’re a believer, sign their petition to Congress!

I know they’ve got the right perspective…check out the “About Us” section and watch the third little flash movie down the page. The movie is a response to the question, “Who are you people? A bunch of slackers and hippies?”

  1. Jaie says:

Hate to burst your bubble, but the Five Day Weekend Campaign is an advertising gimmick for Asheville - So unless people plan to travel from Seattle to the moutains of NC, I doubt you’ll see any west coast rallies. (See the last item on this page: http://tinyurl.com/yv72mj.)
Not that being an ad campaign makes their point any less true - Americans do work way too much.

  2. I don’t care where the idea came from…a 5 Day weekend is a cause I could really get behind!! : )

Or at least a minimum of 5 weeks of vacation per year! : )
