5 Zingers - The Wisdom of the Flying Pig: Guidance and Inspiration for Managers and Leaders.
by David Zinger
Managers and Leaders will really be able to soar with The Wisdom of the Flying Pig.
- This was one of the best produced books I have read in the past few years. The writing is succinct, the design is outstanding, and the ideas are both memorable and helpful. Even the quality of paper used for the book is exceptional. If I had a snort meter, I would give it a perfect 10 snorts.
- The books is laced with quick insights and reminders such as: When a manger does his or her job better there is a multiplier effect — it improves the performance of everyone in the workgroup. We think of this as management leverage.
- The Wisdom of the Flying Pig has short chapters that foster reflection and stimulate action. For example one chapter is titled: Caring isn’t about how you feel — but it IS about how they feel.
- Great managers and leaders determine people’s talents and match those talents with tasks that need to be accomplished. As the chapter on page 18 states: Don’t try to teach a pig to sing — it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.
- This is a cogent management book of just over 100 pages and would make an outstanding addition to any manager or leader’s library and if you don’t have your own business book library this is the perfect book to begin your new library with. Although we don’t see many flying pigs, many manager spend a lot of time flying and this book would be an excellent companion on your next flight. You just might land in a new city with a new perspective on the craft of management and the art of leadership.

I would like to give this book to a manager I used to work for, but Im not sure he still remembers how to read. Perhaps while he is in prison he might remember.
Susan:
Yikes, so much for pig power for the manager.

This is a fantastic book David. I received this book a few years back, along with a wind-up flying pig. Cute and interesting, and it made me read the book.
No gimmicks, just down-to-earth management talk. Definitely worth your $15 to purchase this book and add it to your leadership library.
Just a heads up. We will be offering a free code so that our readers can receive a free PDF copy of this book.
