7-Eleven Promotion Again Forecasted Presidential Winner; See State-by-State Results

With its prediction of an Obama landslide victory, 7-Eleven’s 7-Election coffee-cup based political poll has scored a 3-peat win.

2008 marks the 3rd straight election that 7-Eleven consumer coffee cup preferences have accurately foretold the outcome of America’s most important political contest.

“…An historic moment we all share together…”

“The 2008 7-Election is an historic moment that we all share together,” said promotional political pundit Sean Kelly.  “For too long, beverage-based promotional polling has been dismissed as mere marketing gimmickry.  But this historic 3-peat has solidified the role of convenience store beverage polling in American politics.  The voice of the American consumer will no longer be ignored. “

Pre-voting 7-Election results indicated a 60%/40% preference for Obama going into the election.  Post-election numbers show that Obama won the election by a slimmer margin of 52% to McCain’s 46%.

The 7-Eleven results were 100% accurate in predicting a 50/50 tie in North Carolina, and were within 1-2 percentage points of calling the exact vote percentages in IL, MA, RI and KS.

Among the least accurate were the numbers for Ohio, where Obama won 51%/47% rather than the predicted 69%/31%, and in Virginia, where Obama won 52%/47% rather than the 7-Eleven prediction of 61%/39%.

Silly Marketing Ploy?  Consider this: 7-Eleven customers were within one point of the actual voting percentage for 3 of 4 candidates in the past two elections.

2000 Election
George W. Bush: US Voters: 47.9 percent, 7-Eleven Voters: 51percent
Al Gore: US Voters: 48.4 percent, 7-Eleven Voters: 49 percent

2004 Election
George W. Bush: US Voters: 50.7 percent, 7-Eleven Voters: 51percent
John Kerry: US Voters: 48.3 percent, 7-Eleven Voters: 49 percent

It will be interesting to see how close the 7-Eleven coffee voters come this year.  We’ll know soon enough!

Now go vote… at the polls.

Franchise Freebies for Voters

(FranchisePick.Com)  It’s voting day in the home of the brave and the land of the free… The free donut, coffee, taco and ice cream cone.

The franchise industry is providing patriotic voters with their own economic bailout program… making sure they get their fix of sugar, caffeine and butterfat.  If only the oil companies would be so generous.

Krispy Kreme Get a free star-shaped donut from any Krispy Kreme just for saying you voted… or not.  Since it’s illegal to reward people for voting in many states, all ya gotta do is ask for your donut.

Ben & Jerry’s   Ben & Jerry’s is celebrating election day by giving out free scoops of ice cream

Starbucks:  Get a free cup of coffee at Starbucks for voting.

Daily Grill:   All Daily Grill locations are giving out free appetizers to voters, and happy hour will be expanded throughout the evening (bar only).

California Tortilla:  Local precincts are reporting the distribution of free taco coupons.

Chik-fil-a:  Participating Chick-fil-A locations are feeding American voters (and non-voters) a free chicken sandwich.

You might want to call ahead to make sure your local franchisee is participating.
