The Pure Weight Loss and LA Weight Loss complaints site reports rumors of LA Weight Loss centers closing:

They are closing more LA Weight Loss Centers which are managed by the LA Weight Loss Franchise Companies Corporate office (Under the Name of LATO- or LA Take Over).

By July 11th, the following centers will be closing in Kentucky:

*Elizabethtown, KY *Louisville/Hurstbourne, KY
*Springhurst, KY

They are also planning closings in other areas of the country, including:
*Butte, NE *Lincoln, NE *Bozeman, MT

Beware! If products are owed to you, get into the center immediately and request refunds!

Jane Periotti commented on an LA Weight Loss post here:

They are also closing centers in Reno Nevada and Sparks Nevada….They shut down 8 LA Weight Loss Centers in Las Vegas earlier this year. So this is 10 in this state that have folded without refunding money to clients.

The Madison market-including Rockford, IL will be closed on Dec. 12. All employees except for the manager have been laid off effective Saturday. Clients will be notified next week if not sooner. It has been a pleasure helping all of my clients, getting to know them and seeing them change their lives and I will continue to be there for any clients who need support after the center closes. Its a very sad day.
To all my clients-I appreciate you all and will miss you more then you know. Take care, take advantage of these last six weeks and get everything you possibly can out of the program! Ask for your menu changes and alternatives to the LA products so you can continue your weight loss journey after the center is gone! Regardless of Mr. Katz’s business management this program really works and changes lives!!! I will be seeing you at the grocery store and around town and I want to see “less” of you! :)

    Hi,
All of the Idaho centers will be closed by November 12th. This includes Pocatello,Twin Falls, Idaho Falls and Rexburg.
The Blackfoot Idaho center was given a 1 week notice leaving the employees in the dark till the bitter end. They actually let the employees take money from clients for a program they couldn’t service. In my opinion it was criminal. I just hope they are more ethical with the other centers.

      Hi,

They owe me products that i purchased in advantage. if they closed, they should have notify me and give me a refund for all the product that i purchased. is anyone can help me to what is their contact person and who owns the Rexburg, ID center. i moved to another state, so i wasn’t aware of closing. I’ve been trying to contact them, but phone is disconnected so i’m stuck what to do. thank you

I am trying to figure out if Canada is effected by the closings of LAWL? I am in Ontario…if you know of anything, please let me know.

  5. Greg says:

I would like to offer a program like LA Weight Loss in my town and would like talk to someone by phone regarding the LA weight loss program.

Any managers or employees available to talk?

  6. DV says:

I am just glad that I and most every person who has been at the center level Love and Care about our clients. I met some wonderful men and women and I have been changed as well as the people we were able to help. I am heart broken for the members that are taken advantage of. I no all the NC centers are going to be closed by the 21st Nov. is what I was told. I know the women in those centers were shocked and never thought it would happen. I have stayed in touch with several members who know they can always call me, and I hope they get all the supplies owed to them, but I fear if they have not it is lost to them just like so many in the past, while the top people walk away with all their money. it just sucks!

  7. The "Real" Kelly Hartlage says:

Hey DV….since I have no other way to contact you I just wanted to make sure you had read the message I submitted that explained that all the negative talk earlier in this thread was not really me but someone posing as me. I have always loved the program and only made a move when I was given no reasonable option.

For all others the closings in Louisville have hit me especially hard since I opened or ran all of them from practically the beginning. I truly wish that Mr. Katz or the others that are or rather were in charge would have left the franchisees alone. I think they thought they could run it better….but unfortunately for the clients and those of us that love LA…..they were definitely wrong. They should have kept it “as is”. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! We would have all been happier!

Hopefully someone else will come out with a solidly based program that includes real food, accountability/one on one counseling and a staff that truly cares! It was a great idea….and still is! We don’t need “another” Nutrisystem! The best to all that have been touched by LA….hopefully some of it was positive!

  8. SSASSY says:

Idaho Falls is the center that Milwaukee, WI LA center is saying we are getting counselling from on their LA- to- Go plan, how is this going to happen when its closing? Any info out there would be appreciated- thanks

  9. ritajwilson says:

I heard they were moving LA On The Go to North Carolina somewhere, but eventually it will fade away. It was created to “transition” clients too so the company could avoid massive refunds. Once all centers are closed, they will phase out all Lite Products and close for good. Probably by December. This will give clients they wanted to “help” lose weight (money) no recourse for a refund since their original contract was signed with the center.

  10. velita says:

What avenues should we take to either recieve our product or get a refund for the product. i have 99 spplement boxes of bars i have not receivd, but I am paying for them through GE Credit Care. Is there a class action suite being filed against them in the state of SC

  11. Tom says:

To update what we know. As a vendor, it’s looking more and more unlikely we’ll be paid for our services. So it’s pretty clients will get refunds or receive their products.

So sad when a company is owned by a prominent multi-millionaire, and he refuses to pay his bills, including 2 year old fines from the Oregon Attorney General, who incidentally is suing LA Weight Loss Franchise corporation in an attempt to receive payment. So when a company and it’s owner won’t pay a fine levied by the highest ranking law enforcement official in a state, it’s pretty unlikely any of us (vendors or clients) will ever see their money or products.

Just another example of the irresponsibility of top-ranking executives at a large corporation.

  12. noresull2000 says:

The MN stores are closing in December or at least the Coon Rapids location is closing.

I paid $1,200 for my plan and now I am out the money.

  13. Jessica says:

I found out today about my local center is closing (Minneapolis, MN area). I am very upset over this, as I have truly believed in their program so far. I have been apart of it for 8 weeks now and have molded my life around it. The program has truly worked for me as I have already lost over 20 pounds. I just do not trust this switch they have offered me to LA on the Go. I was wondering how to go about getting future menu plans so I can continue this journey on my own at home, in case my suspicions of the LA on th GO are true. The center have also promised to fulfill the rest of my pre-paid LITES, so hopefully that also works out. If anyone has any advice on getting and planning out the rest of the menu plans and the associated weight loss needed to switch to the new plan it would be greatly appreciated. I am sorry for everyone that seems to be so dedicated to this program- the clients , as well as the wonderful counselers I have associated with.

  14. Nina says:

I was just informed tonight that the LAWL center I attend in MN is closing on 12/12 as is all MN centers…I just joined on 10/15, what are my chances of getting my money back?

  15. Melissa says:

I think the same form the above enery, LA on the go is probally a scam, a way for them to say we will help you and once all the stores are closed the phone for your one -on -one counselor will be disconnected. I would suggust a refund immetadaily

  16. Maria Martinez says:

Does anyone have the address or phone number to the L.A. weightloss Headquarter???? and is any interested in filing or has there been a suit filed against L.A. weightloss in the State of California???? I am really pissed, I know many people who are out alot of money, because of this companies irresponsible dealings and the phone number they have on the website for “Support” is a load of crap, all it does is redirect you to the website and from the website to the phone number, they have us running in circles here in San Diego!!!!

  17. Lady says:

I was a former employee of LAWL and worked at several centers that have closed. I do not advise or trust this company in any way or form. Get your bars and or refund if you can. Do not do LA on the go. Your right it is a scam. DO NOT DO IT!!

  18. Mary says:

Roseville Minnesota closed. Never got reimbursed for the $550 spent on the program and was promised a counselor would contact me in a week, it has been about 4 and have heard nothting. I tried calling but the numbers and e-mail addresses given are not valid. They need to be sued and give people back what they are owed. If anyone is interested please contact me and maybe a few of us ripped off can do something about this.

  19. susi64 says:

I paid through Care Credit. I was wondering if I could disput the charge because of breech of contract?

  20. judy kaller says:

the centers here in charlotte,nc clsed yesterday with no notice. am out 35 boxes of bars, vitamins and also a prepaid year of maintence. really angry. let me know if you get any legitimste info. thanks,

  21. SARAH says:

Susie….. I would start that process as soon as possible. Not sure what your results will be, but I do think that is a good idea. I am a former employee and was “fired” because I was too honest with my clients. I encouraged them to get their bars and to only pay by c.c. I wasn’t selling the programs because I knew this was going to happen. I was told I had a bad attitude and wasn’t being a strong enough role model for the rest of the councelors. (I was kinda the mom figure in the center while alot of the others were young 20 year olds.) I was always told that you can learn from your elders and follow in their footsteps….. I guess they wanted these “Kids” to grow up and be thieves and dishonest people huh………

  22. judy says:

I SPOKE TO CARE CREDIT AT GE YESTERDAY AND WAS TOLD I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY THEM CAUSE THEY PAID LA.WE ARE SUPPOSED TO FIGHT WITH LA TO GET A CREDIT OR REFUND

  23. susan says:

As a former employee who saw this coming back in 06 I would debate the charge on my credit card. You did not recieve teh service that was paid for and then your visa or mastercard statement can fight it.

  24. Mary says:

Hi! I contacted the Attorney General and they are on it….so I would contact your states Attorney General office and they will send you paper work to fill out and return to them ASAP. They were unable to tell me how many other people had called because it is confidential information, but he did say my case is WORTH investigating, so that must say more people than just myself have called.

  25. Susan says:

Did the AGs office say anything about a Class-Action litigation that we could all paritipate in? I am out $1,000. I can’t believe I was taken…I’m smarter than this.

  26. maridith says:

Maridith January 14,2009 I also was taken by la weight loss I was to call 877-552-2577 for la on the go. I would like information if there is any letigation going on in the state of washington. If so would let me know. thanks
