7-Eleven Promotion Again Forecasted Presidential Winner; See State-by-State Results

With its prediction of an Obama landslide victory, 7-Eleven’s 7-Election coffee-cup based political poll has scored a 3-peat win.

2008 marks the 3rd straight election that 7-Eleven consumer coffee cup preferences have accurately foretold the outcome of America’s most important political contest.

“…An historic moment we all share together…”

“The 2008 7-Election is an historic moment that we all share together,” said promotional political pundit Sean Kelly.  “For too long, beverage-based promotional polling has been dismissed as mere marketing gimmickry.  But this historic 3-peat has solidified the role of convenience store beverage polling in American politics.  The voice of the American consumer will no longer be ignored. “

Pre-voting 7-Election results indicated a 60%/40% preference for Obama going into the election.  Post-election numbers show that Obama won the election by a slimmer margin of 52% to McCain’s 46%.

The 7-Eleven results were 100% accurate in predicting a 50/50 tie in North Carolina, and were within 1-2 percentage points of calling the exact vote percentages in IL, MA, RI and KS.

Among the least accurate were the numbers for Ohio, where Obama won 51%/47% rather than the predicted 69%/31%, and in Virginia, where Obama won 52%/47% rather than the 7-Eleven prediction of 61%/39%.

    hehe. Good call, Sean.

Forget the Internet. It was Obama’s ability to consume more Big Gulps than McCain without having to go on Flomax that turned the election.

I’d say you’re a little off in Texas. The numbers are reversed - McCain took home 55% to Obama’s 44%. 7-E predicted a 62% win for President Obama (I wish!).

Good catch. I fixed the numbers (the formatting’s still messed up, but I’ve certainly spent WAY too much time on this already…)

7-Election’s Texas projections were way off… maybe that’s why their 7-election site was taken down so quickly. It now points to their main site. Too bad.

Fun promotion… lots of cheap/free press. I think 7-Eleven only missed the boat by letting Starbucks get the FREE COFFEE for voting buzz on election day. 7-Eleven should have pushed that… maybe with some special Obama blend.
