Choice of Former Monty Python Star Expected to Energize Republican Ticket

Cementing his credentials as a maverick, John McCain today announced he would be selecting Michael Palin as his running mate. Palin, a former regular in the long-running Monty Python series, is expected to lend a needed sense of humor to the McCain campaign.

While short on domestic economic expertise, Palin is expected to serve as a droll straight man on the McCain ticket, much as he did in the famous Monty Python ‘Dead Parrot’ sketch.

Palin is also expected to help the McCain ticket with religious conservatives pining for the good old days of the Spanish Inquisition as well as strengthening McCain’s appeal in the Northwest with lumberjacks.
