MBA No Guarantee Of Success, Pace University Study Says

Advanced Degree Does Help Graduates Stuck in Dead-End Jobs to Be More Bitter, Cynical Than Their Co-Workers

A recent Pace University study discovered that fewer than one in three of the top 488 companies had a CEO with an MBA at the helm. The study also showed those companies headed by an MBA-toting CEO performed marginally worse than those companies who had a CEO who graduated from the School of Hard Knocks.

The nation’s top business schools were quick to point out that the average cost of a 2-year MBA was only about $100,000. A spokesman for the schools maintained that, with an average post-graduate salary of $84,000, MBAs who live under a bridge and don’t eat for a year and a half will actually come out ahead.

The school calculations don’t take into account any additional costs for striped shirts, Bluetooth earpieces or hospital bills that result from getting your ass kicked for scream-talking about a business deal in a quiet restaurant.

First let me welcome you to the business channel Mark. I have found your writing interesting and some what edgy. It shouldn’t take you long to find a following.

On this particular post, based on the research, why should anyone bother getting an MBA? Or any post graduate degree for that matter?

I am a firm believer in education. Especially in this country (US). With or without a degree of any kind, people struggle. Post secondary degrees if nothing else giving you a fighting chance in the job market, whether you are worthy of the alphabets that accompany the degree or not. You at least position yourself to get a decent job with decent pay, whether you ultimately run the company or not. That’s my 2 cents.
