How are brands using YouTube this week? A clear winner in the list is Dunkin’ Donuts
Update 15 Jan: for some strange reason they’ve made the video private and invite only. This is after 500 k views.
Update2: I wrote to them and they’ve made it public again - it had been changed by error.
They’re running a competition to win a year’s supply of coffee from them, all you have to do make a video about how you keep America going and the top 50 videos will win. The top 10 video makers get a chance to appear on Dunkin programming, whatever that maybe. It’s a joint promotion with YouTube, so views were most likely helped by on site promotion, but 500k is still pretty good. Just a warning though, load your video up and you lose all rights to it, as they demand exclusive ownership.
Nike, with Cristiano Ranaldo and a Bugatti have the same video a few times in the top 100 from last week. It looks like they released it exclusively to some top football sites before it went live on nikefootball.com. It’s all about him racing the Bugatti in his new mercurial Vapor boots.
Swiffer is another company that want you to load up your videos, sitting at 73 in the most viewed last week and with 177k views. They provide some clips you can use of the product in a video telling them of your break-up with your old cleaning equipment and how you love the new Swiffer stuff. Swiffer is another company who want to own everything you produce though.
And that’s it for the list this week. I expect to see flowers.com there next week, as they currently have a front page promotion to get you to submit your romantic Valentine video or the chance to pop the question in a dramatic way.
