Whopper Freakout

Another interesting campaign for Burger King. They took a BK restaurant in Las Vegas and stopped serving Whopper for the day, filming the customers and recording their Whopper Freakout. According to the comment on this post from the So Good blog, they were offering $10 vouchers if the customers signed release forms to appear in the film. At 7.5 minutes it’s not a commercial, although they have cut 30′ ads from it. The film is approach is cute, with a gloriously serious narrator discussing the experiment. The idea is simple, there’s no bells and whistles and all the site has is the film (and the code to embed it in your blog), but the buzz about the day seems to be spreading well. Apparently you can’t mess with good American traditions like the Whopper.

As an aside, there’s one little problem with the site as they seem to have forgot to set up the www.whopperfreakout.com version on the server. Going to that URL today, I kept getting this error from the ISP.

At first I thought that commercial was a joke. Guess I was wrong. Seems that folks are REALLY serious about their Whoppers. But freaking out? It’s not that serious is it?!
