A favourite tune to satirise is We didn’t start the Fire, by Billy Joel. I’ve brought you a previous video to that tune, We didn’t start the Viral, a run down of all the favourite memes that have spread over the last few years.

Here’s another, called We Didn’t start the Bubble, from The Richter Scales, an a capella group who’ve got an album to promote

It’s been out for 2 days and looks like it is steadily gaining viewers, with 175k to date. Two key reasons I see for the spread of viewers. first up, it’s funny within a certain world- you watch it and you want to spread it. I say within a certain world as I’m not sure the average viewer will laugh, you need to be working in the web or media world to get all the jokes, so I’m guessing the audience will be limiting. The second reason why the views will spread is that it shows many of the people who have a high level of influence within that tech, web world, such as Scoble and Arrington.

So, know your audience, produce something relevant to them and then find a way to get the attention of the key influencers in your audience. A pretty standard plan for spreading your content around.
