Currys and Panasonic

A game to promote the new Panasonic cameras on partnership with Currys electricals. A pretty straightforward game, taking you to various scenes where you have to ’snap’ the smiles. You can enter a draw for a camera or click through to the more interesting photo contest Our Lives.

Currys Snap Happy and Our Lives Contest

In the photo contest, they’re looking for images that reflect modern Britain, from Culture to People, from Work to the Environment. They’re also accepting video this year. There’s some gorgeous photos in the contest, all competing to win a holiday anywhere in the world.

But the only link between the game and the contest is the link in my opinion. They don’t tie together thematically nor stylistically, so definitely a jar. Nor do I see the game linking to Panasonic cameras, but only cameras in general. It seemed to have been thrown in as a standalone item only, with no connections to the rest of the stuff that I can see.

First up we have a tool to send slideshows to your friends - with a difference. Promoting the Australian film Gone, send your friends the slideshow and get a chance to win a trip to Australia, if you survive their shock at the added extra.

Next up, Pringles are extending their UGC video competition following on from their tie-in with Spiderman 3. Make a video featuring Pringles and get a years pass to the cinema. There does not seem to be a lot of entries at the moment (on the UKk site anyway), so you could have a good chance. Although some of what is there is quite fun. This is a European wide site, but it looks like each country are running the competition separately.

Finally, my favourite of the day. For Panasonic’s Lumix camera here’s a little video game to keep you occupied - The Temple of Zoom. Get through the first 5 levels and get a 10% off voucher (UK only) and then just carry on battling your wee man through perils galore. But be careful, this is very, very addictive (or it was for me).
