Subway Scrabble

Monopoly is not the only board game that is being turned into a promotion. Subway, the sandwich company, are running Subway Scrabble

This is pretty easy, buy a drink, get a game card, try and spell the winning words or get an instant prize. There’s about a 1 in 2 chance of the latter. The prizes are not as rich as McDonalds only going up to 5000GBP instead of 500k. you don’t have to collect all the letter to win one of the prizes as the playing board already has words set up - for example, you only need to collect U, B, A to spell Subway and win 5k. They’ve set it up so there are no shared letters between the prizes.

As with Monopoly, this is a game they have used in the US as well, if it works, why do another one. Teh buzz on the boards does not appear to be as hot as for the bigger prize contest, but there still seems to be a market for swapping the letters. Along with that discussion, is one about the brand and the product. Promotions used to be run just to increase sales - the offer of winning something for ‘free’ was a good enticement. Now, with constant discussion of contests on the web, it opens up opportunities to discuss the brand at the same time; unfortunately what I’ve seen on the Subway stuff is not that complimentary. A risk the promoting brand has to take, balancing the draw of free things with the potential for far more negative buzz about a product than they would have got doing nothing.

    A few points.

    1. I have no problem with you using this post to find other letters.
    2. No-one can see your email address unless you write it in the post. When you fill in the form, it’s for admin reasons (ie to receive follow comments). So add a link to your site with contact details or leave the email in the post.
3, If you add your email to the post, I strongly suggest to don’t write it out directly as an email..leave spaces, use words, to reduce the likelihood of it being scraped and spammed.
    4. I take no responsibility for anything that may happen if you leaving your email address here, such as getting spammed or scammed.

hanasparuch@yahoo.com; this is my email plz i need an “L” i am at a boarding school, my parents died, and my guardian sent me there, cuz he just wants my inherited money etc. and i found out about this subway scrabble and saw they have an epiphone as a prize. the school wont let me buy a guitar, even if its all with my money, the only way is to win it somehow, this is my chance. my dream is to be a pro guitarist, and i can learn how to play real fast, i know all the scales etc. from my best friend at the boarding school because he had a guitar and taught me a lot. but he left us sadly he got cancer and this sounds stupid, but my only chance that i see is to become famous, and the only thing i’m good at is guitar and piano and singing. Please help me and i excuse myself to those who don’t want to listen to the sob story of a guy with a messed up life, but i beg of you all to help.

DOES ANYONE HAVE LETTERS N,Y,P,A,F,G WILL TRADE FOR H,R,M,B,S,O,I,E

Letters A, F, G, N, P, U, W, and Y are all the ones that one will in all likelihood see only someone else getting, grumble about for a week, and then forget one ever knew what Scrabble was. ;) These letters should (quite correctly) NEVER be traded unless one really doesn’t wish a prize.

Though, I am surprised to see BOTH the U and W hard to find (expected just one of them to be that way). I am also surprised to have heard of anyone yet finding a V for one of the $5 Subway gift cards - that’s not exactly an expensive item.

Anyway, that’s my take on the game. Happy hunting, and if you find a Y, I’ll be happy to pay you the sales tax on the hybrid in exchange for the Y and trade said Highlander right back in for a vehicle I really want! If I win the $100k, the ~$63k Uncle Sam so generously provides me should be enough to put all you suddenly no-longer-long-lost relatives deep in the northern stretches of Siberia.

  24. Jackelope says:

An addendum to the last post: Trading codes isn’t going to do anyone any good unless the actual physical game piece is mailed to the new code receipient. The official rules mention in no uncertain terms that all game pieces used to make a prize word must be presented at the time of prize claiming.

This isn’t to stop folks from playing, but be advised how much power trading letters/codes is really going to get you….

  25. chad says:

im just wondering if this is the canadian version everyone is talking about on here, because i have the “Y” and “Z” everyone seems to be needing and all i need is the “H” “G” “P”.
    e mail me at pridekills@hotmail.com

  26. Jackelope says:

    Chad,

The American game doesn’t seem to require a Z at all this time around. However, if the pieces that ARE the same can crossover between countries, I’ll gladly trade you some letter for the Y. I just doubt offhand that it’ll help because of the difference in country - Subway probably saw to pointedly to that.

  27. Rad says:

I have unused A, E, R, S, I, P, two M and three B. I don’t need those. If you want to exchange all my letter for one letter of “Y” you have then email me at royalbengal21@yahoo.com

A, E, R, S, I, P, two M and three B - for anyone who has unused “Y” to exchange. Let me know by email.
