Blogger, tech pundit, and CBC dude Tod Maffin has posted in podcast form his look ahead at tech this year–» A Look Ahead at Tech in 2008 (Tod Maffin blog: todbits.com). Truth be told I haven’t been able to listen to it, the player just keeps saying "loading", I’ll listen as soon as I can.
In the meantime if you’re within range of CBC Vancouver, Tod will be talking about blogging at 1:30 PM today.

I would listen, tris, but I’m “Forbidden” to do so.
Tod seems to be holding a grudge against me for some reason.
Isn’t it a little ironic that a tech pundit can’t get his podcast to work?
Maybe not ironic. Maybe just lame.
Why did you recommend this if no one can hear it?
Actually, since Tod is like me and tries new stuff and likes to tweak … not ironic at all. Rather par for the course. Seems that geeks break our own stuff often. As for why I recommended it without listening. Cause I’ve known Tod for years and know that when talks about tech, it’s always interesting.
Doesn’t Tod make the claim that he was an early adapter of Podcasting?
Doesn’t Tod present himself as an expert in the field?
Yet here we are in 2008, and good luck finding his podcast.
Was it not Tod who said that blogging was a fading fad, only to jump on the bandwagon and claim himself to be an influential blogger?
Didn’t he say email was dead?
After a while, it becomes evident that that the game is to gather up a group of people who will link to and compliment each, all in the hope of more hits and more “influence”.
Nevertheless, tris, I’m not holding Tod’s absurd pretensions against you.
He clearly thinks he’s entitled to be viewed as smarter than anyone around, and it’s entirely your free choice to feed into that belief.
But I doubt his self-proclaimed stature, and suspect that you, tris, could do his job just as well or better.
Thanks for the compliment Allan. I think I also sounded the death knell of various things like podcasting, etc.
One interesting note…folks like Jeremiah Owyang have related that their 20-ish siblings and friends say “email is for old people”.
Maybe I should have tech predictions for 2008. Have some ideas about who is going to buy whom…
I’ll save that for another post. ;)
