Tips for Creating Successful Banner Ads

If you are marketing online, the method that used to be king is banner advertisements. While other methods have now surpassed banner ads, a properly constructed banner advertisement can still be hugely successful. Here are five tips for creating a successful banner ad:

5) Look Professional
If your banner looks unprofessional, potential customers will think your website is unprofessional. Pay the extra money, if need be. It’s worth it.

4) Brand It
All banner advertisements should have the name of your website clearly on the ad. Even if the web surfer doesn’t click on your ad, at least you will gain some brand recognition — even if subconsciously.

3) Quick Statement
Don’t be too long-winded with your banner ad. If it takes more than a couple seconds to get to the point, you need to shorten the message.

2) Draw Attention
The banner doesn’t need to be crazy but it has to stand out. A boring ad with neutral colors can easily blend into the background and be overlooked.

1) Keep It Fresh
You should change your banner ad routinely. Once a web surfer sees the ad a few times, he or she will learn to block it out. Keep it fresh with new idea, new slogans, new art designs, new shapes and new sizes.
