The Incredible Hipness of Being a Cool Place to Work

There’s something called anti-marketing, where you aren’t trying to sell your product, yet it makes your product irresistible.
In this case, Connected Ventures, a collection of web publishing and design companies, pulled together a fun lip synch video that captures what it’s like to be part of a group of young people who know how to have fun and not take themselves seriously.
One million views later, I’m with Mike Arrington on this one: This should be their primary recruiting video.
It isn’t traditional, it doesn’t push a message, and it works. You see the video and go "I’d love to work at a place like that."
Compare that to the lame attempt by agency.com to seem hip with their viral video pitch to get the Subway account (the video has since been pulled from YouTube). I’ve seen the video, and the last thing it inspired you to do was hire, or get hired by, the agency.

I really loved this video when I saw it via Crunchnotes last week…why can’t we all spend our time at agencies doing that sort of stuff?
