“Real Estate” is one of the few businesses that allows you to work and have plenty of time to play

Real Estate as a business can be through various means such as development, brokerage and investment. It is a business that allows you to have a lot of interaction with other people from all levels of the society. The social interaction alone makes it more fun as a business
As a developer, once you have established your project, you can either move on to your next development or take a break and enjoy the fruits of your labor. It depends on your priorities and the direction you want to head your business. One of the builders I know, just constructs 1 to 2 houses a year. In between projects, he takes a break. He travels, spends time with his family, while at the same time he checks outs the latest trends for his new project.
As an investment, real estate is one of the easiest business to manage. You can get a monthly income without doing much effort. The hardest part is getting the tenant, signing a contract and the periodic maintenance of the property. However, you can hire people to do all these things such as a realtor for securing a tenant, a lawyer to take care of the contract and a handyman or tradesman for all the necessary repairs. There really is no need to work everyday, Once you have a pool of positive cash flow investment properties and the rental income is automatically deposited in your bank; you can travel and do more important things in life like being with family. In fact, the best example was my good friend back in university. Her parents was lucky to inherit and establish a rental business; both commercial and industrial. The only "work" they actually do was sign the contract and collect rent, the rest is "play"… which is spending time with the kids, friends and living a stress-free life. Another example, is one of my friends who bought a property in cash. This is just one property for around $150,000 USD. He had the place interior decorated… before it was finished an expatriate signed a contract giving him a net income of around $1800 USD a month. However, the best part is…he got it 1 year in advance with a 2 months deposit. Now, that’s a lot of money for play again. The hard work was just at the start…having the money to invest, finding a property, organizing the interior decoration and the rest is play time. I can give countless examples because I myself witnessed the benefits of having a real estate business.
As a broker, aside from the financial gains from the business, meeting a lot of people makes work seem like play. To add, it gives a lot of pleasure to help others in their real estate needs. In fact, when I was practicing as a real estate broker, almost all of my clients became my friends as well. They are also instrumental in growing my client base through referrals.
As a whole, Real Estate as a business when managed right, allows you to enjoy your work and gives you the benefit of having plenty of time to play. If you will it, you can make things happen!
