New Paradigm: Social PR

Geoff Livingston sums up the need for companies to abandon their old command and control methods of marketing and message management.

“The way we react to social media’s impact is by moving away from message control, and getting back to creating value for the community served by the newspaper (or TV stations, or …).”

He calls the new approach (which is actually just a variation on what companies have been doing for a long time) Social PR.

You can catch the rest of Geoff’s treatise on his Buzz Bin blog.
