Need a Quick Way to Recharge or Destress at Work? Try Aromatherapy!

This past week at my women’s health blog, guest writer Jennifer Chait offered some really simple and really excellent aromatherapy recipes. I’m feeling really drained right now and trying to come up with a noncaffeinated way to perk up and get some stuff done before I crash for the night.
One really nice thing about aromatherapy is that it’s super easy to stash a bottle of essential oil in your desk drawer for easy access during the day. Because I work from home, I don’t have any of those crazy safety restrictions like no open flames in the office, so I have an oil burner at my desk and I use lavendar oil when I’m feeling particularly stressed out.
Your in-office solution might be to just open the bottle and set it on your desk for a few minutes. The scent will reach you, but not your office mates. Try it.

I have a scented jar calendar that stays on my desk all the time in my home office (I work from home too) because I love to burn it for a treat! The current one is cranberry (not as holiday scented as it sounds, just very fruity).
For those of us who live in our cubicles, aromatherapy is a GREAT way to de-stress. I have a little bottle of some essential oil (I wanna say it’s lavender, but it might not be) with a bunch of bamboo sticks in it. It smells delightful when you’re right next to it, but you can’t smell it from the edge of my cubicle. It’s a nice alternative to candles since our office won’t allow those.
I love lavender in any form. I have it all over. To me, it’s the best scent because it smells so clean. For people like me who can’t stand vanilla (makes me gag:) and all the sweet fruit stuff it’s especially great that it’s starting to show up in ‘consumer’ products. Yum:)
@Nancy - Mmm, sounds nice. :)
@Sandie - Yes, those oil diffusers are getting increasingly popular, which means they’re also getting increasingly cheaper! I think The Body Shop has some nice options right now.
@Miki - Lavender is my fav, too. :)
