Ben & Jerry’s - No Breast Milk, but Cleaner, Greener Freezers

In September, Ben & Jerry’s announced that they received a letter from PETA, asking them to use human breast milk instead of cow’s milk in their frozen treat. I’m all for green options…but this isn’t the way to do it. Gross.

Anyway, although we won’t be seeing non-cow options at B&J’s anytime soon, they are taking steps to go green. Check out this article on their new hydrocarbon-based freezer, part of the new testing program that will include 2000 freezers in coming year. These freezers don’t use HFCs at all, and they they aren’t perfect, they’re a better option, at least for now.
