Webster defines the word Ideal as a standard of perfection, beauty or excellence. One regarded as exemplifying an ideal and often taken as a model for imitation. Are you an ideal candidate? How do you know?
*An Ideal Candidate is going to demonstrate confidence & enthusiasm
*An Ideal Candidate is going to communicate success stories
*An Ideal Candidate will be knowledgeable about the organization, the industry, the position
*An Ideal Candidate will use strong words and phrases that describe their skills & abilities
There are some words you can use that will help differentiate you from the competition and help you become the Ideal Candidate. Increase your vocabulary by using strong action words. Here are a few of my favorites:
- Led
- Provided
- Established
- Trained
- Developed
- Supervised
- Designed
- Completed
- Accomplished
This is a very short list, but using these or words like these will strengthen your interview. The more words you use that describes your skills and abilities with power, the more memorable you will become to the interviewer. The words you choose to use in your resume and cover letter should also be used in your answers during your interview.
Coaching Tip: Do not use lazy language, slang or casual language.
